| Abstract | Os produtos de chuva estimada por satélites permitem avaliar a variabilidade espacial da precipitação em grandes bacias, suscitando sua aplicação para previsão de desastres hidrológicos. O objetivo deste estudo foi desenvolver um método para alerta de inundações com uso de precipitação estimada por sensoriamento remoto, tendo como estudo de caso o município de São Sebastião do Caí/RS. A metodologia proposta envolve: a identificação de cheias e de inundações; o cálculo da precipitação antecedente aos eventos extremos, a partir do produto MERGE, em diferentes horizontes temporais, considerando a área de drenagem; a limiarização da precipitação para alertas de inundação. Utilizando a abordagem de múltiplos limiares, considerando as chuvas acumuladas em 2, 3 e 7 dias, obteve-se 94,4% de acertos no alerta de inundações. Concluímos que o método é eficiente e acurado, podendo-se expandir sua aplicação para grandes bacias hidrográficas. ABSTRACT: Satellite-estimated rainfall products allow the evaluation of the spatial variability of precipitation in large basins, which enables their application to predict hydrological disasters. In this paper, we developed a method for flood alerting using precipitation estimated by remote sensing, having as a case study the municipality of São Sebastião do Caí/RS. The methodology includes: the identification of floods and inundations; the calculation of rainfall in the days prior to extreme events, using the MERGE product, in different temporal lags, considering the drainage area; the investigation by precipitation thresholds for flood alerts. We were able to get 94.4% of the flood forecasts right using the multi threshold approach, considering rainfall accumulated in 2, 3 and 7 days. We conclude that the method is efficient and accurate, and its application can be expanded to large hydrographic basins. |
